What is Tana Lawn cotton and what can it be used for?
Tana Lawn Cotton is sumptuously fine and soft, has a high thread count weave and is a light 76GSM weight. It has a subtle lustrous sheen, and feels luxurious against the skin. Suitable for beginners to advanced makers.
Tana Lawn lends itself well to any project requiring class and elegance. Its exquisite drape is fluid enough for dreamy dresses and stylish loungewear, yet it holds gentle shape and structure in more tailored projects such as cute blouses, clutches and hair accessories. It can even be used for lightweight cottage quilts and homewares. Tana Lawn is perfect for adults, children and nursery projects.
What is Lasenby quilting cotton and what can it be used for?
Lasenby cotton, at 146GSM, is slightly heavier than regular quilting fabrics, and is designed primarily for quilting and projects that need a professional, polished, durable finish.Lasenby cotton is versatile; it's absolutely effective for anything that needs to hold shape and stand up to wear and tear such as applique and patchwork quilts, English paper piecing, fussy cutting, bags and pouches, homewares, cushions and sewing room accessories.
Lasenby prints are often bold, crisp and vibrant, and are loved by experienced and beginner sewers alike.
How do I care for Liberty fabrics like Tana Lawn & Lasenby cotton? Will Liberty fabric shrink or bleed?
Tana Lawn care: machine wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle and line dry. Tana Lawn is prewashed at the manufacturing stage and does not need prewashing prior to sewing, but can be pressed. Shrinkage is negligible. The colours on Tana Lawn are designed to withstand frequent washing whilst remaining colourfast.
Lasenby cotton care: machine wash on cool and line dry. It is recommended to prewash Lasenby cotton prior to sewing and may shrink about 3% (length and width) on the first wash, in cool to 30°C water. Warmer washes and low heat tumble drying may cause further shrinkage.For high contrast colours in both Tana Lawn and Lasenby cotton, wash separately if you can, stick to cold water and line dry immediately.
